This will be the third light I've installed on the house in the 12 years I've lived at my current address. I had problems with other lights, so I'm hoping this one solves those problems.Based on my bad experience with other lights, I was looking for a light that:- Doesn't provide a perch where birds try to make nests.- Doesn't provide little holes for wasps to make nests in.- Doesn't rust or corrode.- Is made of durable material that won't crack or fade.- Is bright enough to mark our front door and make it easy to get the key in the lock at night, but not too bright.- Won't need bulbs replaced frequently.- Is impervious to rain.- Is attractive. This light checks almost all of those boxes. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and some other reviewers like the appearance of this light, but in my honest opinion, I must frankly say that this is not the most attractive light. That said, it's almost perfect in every other way. It's made of heavy cast metal, which should make it durable. It mounts flush to the wall and has no exposed little holes for insects to climb through. It seems to be powder-coated, which hopefully will prevent corrosion/rusting and won't fade. It's just bright enough for our needs, and has LED lights, which hopefully will last a long time. It's sealed tight to the weather.I debated between this light and one of those "marine bulkhead" style lights, and ended up going with this one since the style seems to match our mid-century house. The previous light matched the mailbox and sign better, but the so-called "stainless steel" material the light was made of corroded badly in just a few years.
